Bliss from sweat

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

Today’s a Thursday morning and I’m glad I’ve done so much eventhough it’s only 10.03 a.m. in the morning. Typing right now at my seat, I can only hear the sound of the operating air conditioner. I’m not alone, glancing around the room, I can see less than 10 others around me at their respective partitions.

Sitting here, I feel so, so cold. So cold that I’m trying to get my ass off here as soon as I’m finished. My sweat drenched attire has a big part dried up, thanks to the heat I donate. I feel cold and messy. Don’t think I wanna look at my current condition in the mirror. I need a warm bath, change into dry clean clothes and content my empty stomach. Anyway, not starving though as nature hasn’t called.

It’s superbly quiet in the usual not so quiet library here in uni. The semester break has already begun for 2 weeks. I’m supposed to be here only to manually renew my books.

Tennis this morning was great. That’s simply as I can return most of the balls. I must say you’ll love a game when you play it well especially in tennis. As a beginner, I used to spend more time retrieving balls than returning them in the game. Though, it’s still a problem, it’s kinda difficult to switch from a badminton playing style to tennis’s. The techinque is totally different. It’s not incommon to see the ball flyng in the air and if your partner is so much like you, you’ll see the ball passing over your head. The next thing you see, it continues out over the high fencing. Dreaded playing in a real game, I practised against the wall, not the Wall of Berlin but the wall of UPM. Every now and then, the ball flew over the wall. Afterall, that was where I learnt to control the ball and got more oppurtunities to hit the ball compared to in a game.

Thinking that I was good enough, I tried to find a partner to play. It never crossed my mind that it’s not exactly the same as playing against the wall. I got frustrated that the ball still wanted to fly. I adjustesd the racquet face and yet it remained. Soon I learnt that I’m supposed to bring the ball and not hit it. It’s like making a half hemisphere swing, at the same time keeping the ball in contact as long as possible with the racquet to reduce the impact of the force. It’s the sudden obstruction that causes the ball to fly up high.

Well, tennis..I’m starting to enjoy tennis. It’s tough,I admit, much tougher than badminton, the raquet’s heavier and the ball is bigger and one has to run like crazy after and arrive before it in a much bigger court. On the other hand, there always the sun which is not so happy with the torture we already had. Nevertheless, it’s worthwhile, it gives so  much satisfaction when I’m drenched with sweat. Afterall, at the end of the came, I know I’ve got a little better in the game, a little fitter, burnt a little more calories than my normal couch potato lifestyle at home and hurray, I can indulge in a little extra food today! The sad thing is, I’ve got myself unwanted tan.

My God, I’m freeEEEeeezzzziiiinnnggg….. Gotta go before I’m frozen.

Living a life?

Monday, November 27th, 2006

The time is now 12.54 pm as indicated on my PC screen. Day is Tuesday. Looking out the window just behind the monitor, is a sky of greyish clouds. Such has been the weather these days. Gone are the burning hot afternoons. Days have been cooler and gone are the sweaty discomforts. Even without an air conditioner or even a fan switched on, I do not produce even a trickle of sweat. It’s natural air and wind all around me now.

Looking out again, it’s so calm and quiet. Clouds is slowly drifting past in in the sky. Plants are slowly swaying from side to side. When a light rain’s gone, the sun appears until another shift of dark clouds take over the sky again. Every now and then, a car passes by on the street outside. At least there’s no irritating VROOM VROOOM VROOOMM!!!!!!!! , the revving of a pissed off engine. Anyway, of course not …as one who does so is not around, my bro.

Being here alone at home day and night, I’m the usual target to oblige on house chores, and that includes to hang out the entire family’s wardrobe of clothes and keeping them on check 24/7. Now there, the drizzling has just begun outside. There’s simply no prior warning before it starts to pour. As much as I like such weather, I must concede it irritates me at the same time. My own clothes, not to mention the rest too are actually washed last Saturday are yet to be folded and nicely kept in the wardrobe. Still in the dining room waiting to be dried. Just half and hour ago I’ve brought them in. This is due to a lesson learnt last Sunday.

LIFE LESSON ON LAUNDRY

Firstly, rain can pour as early as in the morning and it can go on and off throughout the day.

Secondly, there won’t be any prior lightning or thunder to give you a sign / warning.

Thirdly, it can start as stealthily as it ends.

Fourthly, do not expect to hear any distant next door sounds on " Xia Yi, Sou Yi arr!" Surprising as it is, the occupants are probably not around and they’ve got maids. Thus, no hordes on children to collect the clothes.

Back to the Sunday’s scene, and so poor me was left without any prior warnings, and suddenly i heard sounds. I looked out the window and saw what I didn’t want to see. It was pouring heavier than right now, out of nowhere and all I heard was SHeeeeeeeeshhsehhhheseheshheshhshehhs………..Didn’t bother to bring them in, and at the end of the day, tucked them in the washing machine and there it went, SPIN!!!!!!

Yesterday alone, I can say a day of the laundry worker at work. 24/7 on the weather. Up and down the stairs to hang, oh.. weather’s not so good, in u go, oh sun’s out, go dry yourself, aik.. look! the dark clouds’re here again, haven’t you learnt..it pours without warning, down the stairs and out to the backyard.. collected and brought into the dining room. Laid them out on the chairs, brought in a fan and let it worked on them. And so was the scene in that room.

Even now…
